Got cow? New Hampshire’s own internationally recognized artist is putting his brush to work for a good cause next week. Chester-based artist Beaman Cole, who was named one of International Artist magazine’s “Master Painters of the World,” will take part in Boston’s 2006 Cow Parade, all part of a program to raise money for the Jimmy Fund. Cole, who specializes in pop art, will be painting two life-size fiberglass cows, which will then be displayed somewhere in Boston as part of the three-month exhibit. In all, the Cow Parade will include more than 100 bovine creations; this year, their goal is a “herd” of 150 cows. Each cow is hand-painted by a New England artist, and may feature its own theme or personality. Local companies may sponsor cows, but the majority of fundraising occurs at the end of the parade, when the cows are auctioned off. The money raised goes directly to the Dana-Farber Cancer Institute’s Jimmy Fund, which has been a dedicated member of the fight against cancer for more than years. Those interested are invited to watch Cole’s process of painting the cows. The entire event is open to the public, and will take place daily from 9 a.m-4 p.m. Through Saturday, March 18. He will paint the cows at one of his representing galleries, Framer’s Market, located at 124 South River Road, Bedford, in the Woodbury Court Plaza. After they are painted, the cows will then be shipped to Boston, where they will be on display from June 3 through Sept. 5. Cows will adorn the city’s parks, sidewalks and plazas, all in the festive and fun spirit of raising money for a good cause. “My work is about the optimistic enjoyment of life,” Cole said. “My paintings speak of joy, excitement, and festive fun.” Cole is also represented by the Art3 Gallery in Manchester. Cow Parade Boston in the most recent in a series of national and international events organized to benefit the Jimmy Fund. Similar Cow Parades in Chicago, London, New York, Sydney, and Tokyo have drawn millions of admirers, as well as raised money for a good cause.
