Santa Claus hangs with artists; Iraq photos at NH Library

• Walk or ride: The Open Doors free trolley tour of studios, museums and galleries in Manchester closes its 2006 series Thursday, Nov. 16, from 5 to 8 p.m. Citizens Bank offers free parking after 5 p.m. across from trolley stop City Hall, where four exhibiting artists, Mayor Guinta and Santa Claus will greet visitors. Download the map and guide from majestictheatre.net or call 669-7469. The Hilton Garden Inn is sponsoring and will feature local artwork. Other stops are SEE Science Center’s LEGO models, Millyard Museum’s “Woven in Time,” Langer Place’s art and photo studios, MCAM, Art 3 Gallery’s “Small Treasures” show opening and Franco-American Centre “CRÈCHES-Expressions of Serenity and Hope” opening at Beliveau Art Gallery.
The final 2006 Artwalk Nashua happens in conjunction with the Holiday Winter Stroll Saturday, Nov. 25, with open studios downtown and in the millyards from 1 to 7 p.m. It will also be the night to choose the Holiday Stroll winning artwork. The submission deadline is Nov. 18 at 4 p.m. and rules are at nashuastroll.com. The Artwalk map is at artwalknashua.org.
East of here, the Salmon Falls artists will hold open studios Nov. 18-19, 11 a.m.-5 p.m. with more than 50 artists and artisans at 1 Front St., Rollinsford. Check them out at millartists.com. In Newburyport, “Support The Arts Juried Fine Art & Antique Show” is Nov. 17 and 18 from 11 a.m. to 10 p.m. at Unitarian Universalist Church, 26 Pleasant St.

He is displaying more than 100 photographs concentrating on the men of Charlie Company 3/172nd Mountain Infantry, the men and women of the 744th Transportation Co., and the men and women of the 1159th Medical Co. (Air Ambulance) at the State Library, 20 Park St., Concord, through Dec. 1. The exhibit will move to Pease in Portsmouth Jan. 22, and then to the New Hampshire Community Technical College in Nashua.
• Old mountains, new furniture: Anderson-Soule Gallery in Concord opens “Classical to Contemporary: New Hampshire Furniture Master David Lamb and the White Mountain School Revisited,” an exhibit featuring new furniture by David Lamb and a selection of recent landscape paintings by regional artists with a reception Friday, Nov. 17, from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. Lamb and his patron Diane Griffith will discuss the patronage process Thursday, Nov. 30, from 7 to 8:30 p.m. and Lamb hosts a tour of his Canterbury studio Saturday, Dec. 2, at 11 a.m. Call 228-3800 to register. “Classical to Contemporary” is on view through Dec. 30.
