• Party for cash: A couple local theater companies are pulling out all the stops in an effort to raise scratch for their respective dramatic efforts. The professional company Yellow Taxi Productions is celebrating their fifth anniversary Saturday, March 24, 7:30 p.m. at the Marriott Hotel in Nashua with an event called “Martini Madness.” Take in live entertainment by New Hampshire and Boston vocalists Jackie Bellows, Tajoura Davis, Barbara Lawlor and Yolanda LeRoy. There’s also a silent auction, of course, plus appetizers and desserts. Josiah George, known from YTP’s Santaland Diaries production, will host the event. Yellow Taxi Productions will also honor long-time supporters Dr. David G. Stahl of Manchester and Lowell Williams. Dr. Stahl and his wife Barbara, who died in 2005, were founding board members of the Opera League of NH and members of the NH Symphony. Williams is Yellow Taxi’s playwright-in-residence and a founding board member of YTP. Yellow Taxi Productions’ vision is to sustain an artistic environment by educating and exposing New Hampshire audiences to challenging and unique theatrical experiences.
Ghostlight Theater Co. of New England hosts a party Saturday, March 10, at 8 p.m. at the Masonic Hall, 107 Main St., Salem. The fundraiser will feature assorted skits, one-acts and monologues with appearances from actors Mari Keegan, Liz Burns-Allshouse and Neal Blaiklock. You will also be treated to parody-previews of Ghostlight’s 2007 Shakespeare series and Cannibal! the Musical. The Troupe de le Sockspeare of Modesto, Calif., will make a special appearance. • Summer fun: New Thalian Players are in their planning mode for this summer’s Theatre in the Park, a tradition they started two summers ago with Grease performed outdoors in Manchester, followed by A Funny Thing Happened on the Way to the Forum in 2006. New Thalian has added a second show this year. They are currently scheduled for the last three weekends in July at Veterans Park, performing Forever Plaid and You’re a Good Man Charlie Brown. Casting will most likely happen in the last half of March, according to Wendy L. Trommer of New Thalian. Because they are focusing on their expanded summer schedule, New Thalian has not scheduled a spring performance.
