Sherry,
I got an e-mail from an old classmate this week. He and I kissed in junior high but we were just friends otherwise. We saw each other at an event in the city I live in a couple of months ago. It was nice to see him and a little awkward, after not seeing him for so long.
Yesterday I got e-mail, sort of out of the blue. Since then, we’ve been e-mailing back and forth. It’s gotten sort of saucy.
We are both in relationships.
Is there anything wrong with this?
We aren’t making plans to see each other or anything like that. It’s sort of a harmless flirtation.
What do you think?
Brynn
Dear Brynn,
After a day or two of “saucy” e-mails, I certainly hope you aren’t making plans to see each other.
I think lots of things. I think that saucy to me translates to sexy. Sexy with someone else, via e-mails, probably crosses a line in your relationship, or his.
Basically, fidelity to me is pretty clear. If it feels like I wouldn’t share it with my partner, I’m probably doing something I shouldn’t. Does that ever happen? Sure. It happens to everyone. It’s how you deal with it once you recognize it as something potentially damaging that matters.
