Do you miss Jerry Garcia? See his artwork in Nashua

• Own your own Jerry Garcia: The Grateful Dead icon was also a painter. A national tour of his works, “Jerry Garcia/A Visual Journey,” stops at the Courtyard Marriott, 2200 Southwood Drive in Nashua, on Saturday, April 14, from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. and Sunday, April 15, from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. brought to you by Image Makers Art with 96.5 FM The Mill. It features one of the largest collections of Garcia’s art assembled for public display, including signed lithographs, silk-screens and rare original watercolors. Garcia (1942-1995) attended the San Francisco Art Institute prior to his fame as a musician. His painting styles involve realism, surrealism and geometric abstraction. He began to produce much more after 1986 when he was recovering from a severe diabetic coma, according to Image Maker Art. All of the work in this national show came from that period between 1986 and his death. Image Maker Art of Philadelphia buys and sells visual artworks by musicians and actors. Meet the artists Friday, April 13, from 5 to 8 p.m. In Manchester, visit East Colony Fine Arts, 55 South Commercial St., to see Dale Tremblay Begley’s “For the Animals” pastels and oils Saturday, April 14, between 5 and 8 p.m. The event includes a silent auction to benefit the NH Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals. At Saint Anselm College, see student work chosen for Juried ’07 Fine Arts at an opening Friday, April 12, from 6 to 8 p.m. Awards will be given at 7:30 p.m. at the Chapel Art Center. High school talent is on exhibit at the ninth annual Allstate Art Festival exhibit at the Currier Art Center Sunday, April 14, at 1:30 p.m. Nominated by their teachers, the students spend two days at the Currier Art Center working with professional artists from around the Northeast. The 63 juniors chosen come from 34 communities. The Currier normally receives 130 to 140 applications for about 60 spaces. An exhibit of their work runs April 16 through May 16 at Derryfield School Lyceum Gallery, with a reception for the artists on April 20, from 5:30 to 6:30 p.m., at 2108 River Road, Manchester.
Elsewhere, the Portsmouth gallery walk, Art ’Round Town, is April 13 from 5 to 8 p.m. See artroundtown.org for venues. The popular Sharon Arts Center, 30 Grove St. in Peterborough is holding a beginner open house April 14 from 10 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. Take in a workshop there for $20 that day, or two for $35. • To be precise: Zimmerman House, administered by the Currier Museum of Art, actually is not the only Frank Lloyd Wright-designed property in New England, as was reported in this space March 29. Rather, it is the only one open to the public.
