What happens in Manch-Vegas: Cirque du Soleil brings “Delirium,” their first live music arena event, to the Verizon Wireless Arena in Manchester Tuesday, June 26, through Thursday, June 28, at 7:30 p.m. Although the acrobatic shows have made a home in Las Vegas, Cirque du Soleil’s roots are in (somewhat) nearby Montreal. The group promises awe-inspiring visuals, musicians, singers and dancers in this piece about the “quest for balance in a world that is increasingly out of sync with reality.” Lyrics have been added as a Cirque first, with texts in English, French, Spanish, Wolof and Portuguese. The show also features percussionist brothers El Hadji Fall Diouf and Pape Abdou Karim Diouf of Senegal; Gaïa, a funk, soul and electro jazz group with Brazilian and Peruvian roots, and Brazilian Italo-Cuban singer Dessy Di Lauro. Ticket costs range from $39.50 to $125.
Seacoast stages: Prescott Park Arts Festival in Portsmouth features a summer season of arts, concerts and food plus their main stage performance, The Sound of Music. The Von Trapp family’s World War II experience will be retold in musical form from June 22 through Aug. 19, at 7 p.m. on Thursdays and Sundays and 8 p.m. Fridays and Saturdays at Marcy and Mechanic streets. Mayhem and Murder, usually seen around Nashua or Milford, is bringing one of their comic murder-mystery performances to the Muddy River Smokehouse in Portsmouth. Somewhat south along the coast, the Firehouse Center for the Arts at 1 Market Square in Newburyport, Mass., is presenting Run For Your Wife from June 22 through July 1. A London cab driver’s carefully constructed two-wife world falls apart when he lands in hospital in this Ray Cooney farce. Call (978) 462-7336 for tickets, which range in cost from $17 to $20.
Turning Japanese: By the way, if you didn’t get to see Ghostlight Theater Co. of new England produce a Noh-inspired adaptation of Hamlet in Japanese and English (don’t worry, it’s only an hour and 10 minutes long) check it out Sunday, June 24, at 2 p.m. at Mariposa Museum & World Culture Center in Peterborough. Ghostlight founder John Sefel created this version. Mariposa lent the kimonos. Performances are included in museum admission, $5 for adults and $3 for ages 2 to 16.
