Curtain calls • Try out: Nashua Theatre Guild is staging Wait Until Dark by Frederick Knott Oct. 11 through Oct. 14. Actorsingers of Nashua is staging Thoroughly Modern Millie as their fall musical Nov. 9 through Nov. 11 at The Keefe Auditorium in Nashua. Actorsingers will give the details about auditions at an information night, Monday, Aug. 13, at 7 p.m. at Actorsingers Hall, 219 Lake St. in Nashua, 889-9691. Auditions are Aug. 19 and Aug. 20 at 7 p.m. at Actorsingers Hall for ages 16 and older. Auditions usually involve a prepared song, reading from the script and a simple dance routine. Acting Loft is auditioning for the Gilbert and Sullivan classic Pirates of Penzance Saturday, Aug. 18, from 4 to 8 p.m. and Sunday, Aug. 19, from 1 to 4 p.m. at 516 Pine St. in Manchester. Roles are available for ages nine through adult. The show runs Oct. 26 through Nov. 4. Prepare 16 bars of a song and dress comfortably for a movement sequence. Call Acting Loft at 666-5999, or visit actingloft.org. • In the money: Palace Theatre has received a $5,000 grant from the Corporate Fund to purchase the development software package Raiser’s Edge in order to enhance the Palace Theatre’s fundraising efforts. The Palace also received an operating grant of $13,600 per year for the next two years from the New Hampshire State Council on the Arts. It will support general operations of the Palace Theatre and its theater, music and dance programs. The nonprofit Palace Theatre in Manchester is a professional performing arts center. • Group effort: The Friends of the Audi are preparing for their annual “Pitch-in.” This will be the 17th year that volunteers gather to paint, polish, clean, fix and otherwise prepare the 1904 Concord City Auditorium for the season. The Friends of the Audi is an umbrella for the organizations that use the venue, but is open to anyone. Ages 12 and up are welcome to help at the Pitch-in, which runs from 9 a.m. to noon and 6 to 9 p.m. weekdays, and weekends as needed, starting Aug. 20. Kenneth and Joye Olson of Penacook organize.
