• From the U.K.: Experience theater the way the innovative Full Tilt Theatre Company of Bath Spa University in the U.K. envisions it. It’s more than vision. Their “Identity Fair” is set at a mountain resort, where the audience will join “resort staff” in feasting, live music, dancing and activities. You’ll be given a new identity upon check in, and the merrymaking will turn into a production of The Comedy of Errors as the “staff” assume character. Full Tilt (www.fulltilt-theatre.com) is presenting the show at Shakespeare in the Valley Tuesday, Aug. 19 and Wednesday, Aug. 20, with check-in starting at 5:30 p.m. The Waterville Valley summer company is hosting a premiere Thursday, Aug. 21, when author John Reed tests out his play, All the World’s a Grave. Reed has recombined some of Shakespeare’s most famous plays into a story in which Hamlet is at war to win Juliet. Her father is Lear, King of Aquitaine. Curtain is at 6 p.m. It’s a preview for a premiere at the New York Marble Cemetery in New York City Aug. 30 and Aug. 31. Shakespeare in the Valley ends a repertory of The Taming of the Shrew and The Tamer Tamed — written by John Fletcher about 20 years after The Taming of the Shrew as an answer to that play — Aug. 23. It’s a re-telling of the Greek play Lysistrata from a Shakespeare protege. Show ticket costs range from $10 to $20. Performances are held outdoors (indoors if there’s rain). • Funny bone theater: Act One’s Festival of Fun starts this week and will offer four comedies in the coming weeks. Ida, Woman Who Runs with the Moose runs Thursday, Aug. 14; Wednesday, Aug. 20, and Wednesday, Aug 27. Over the River & Through the Woods runs Friday, Aug. 15; Saturday, Aug. 16; Friday, Aug. 22, and Saturday, Aug. 23. Spousal Deafness and Other Bones of Contention runs Thursday, Aug. 21, and Thursday, Aug. 28. We Stayed Together For the Puppets is on Tuesday, Aug. 26 and The Story of a Bad Boy has its last performance on Tuesday, Aug. 19. All shows are at 2 and 8 p.m. Tickets run $16 to $18. • Arrrh! Pirates or Patriots?, a half-hour performance commissioned by Strawbery Banke as part of its History Theatre project, opened last weekend and will run weekends through Sept.1. The shows will be on Saturdays and Sundays at 11:30 a.m., 1:30 p.m. and 2:30 p.m. The play dramatizes the conflicts between Revolutionary War era figures John Paul Johns and Col. John Langdon. • Vacationland in Laconia: This is the last weekend for Almost, Maine, the play written by John Cariani (native of Maine) at the Winnipesaukee Playhouse. The production, which features a series of short vignettes about the fictional town of Almost, Maine, runs through Saturday, Aug. 16, with shows every night at 2 p.m. Tickets cost $19 for adults, $17 for seniors and students.
