• Struggles of adolescence: In Bare, teen students at a Catholic boarding school “confront coming of age, coming out and coming to terms with the often contradictory but always high expectations of parents, peers and the Church,” according to a press release from Phoenix Academy. Brandon Mallard and Henry Kopczynskie III make up their production team for the “pop opera” Bare, by Jon Hartmere and Damon Intrabartolo. Phoenix is a performing arts education company that took over for the relatively new All Access Productions. • Santa gone crazy: Santa is sent to rehab after a traffic violation in Jeff Goode’s Seven Santas, a follow-up to The Eight: Reindeer Monologues. Lisa DeFazio directs it for Ghostlight Theatre Co. “Seven Santas offers a deliciously twisted and humorous departure from your typical holiday fare,” she said in a release. Peter Saati, Mike Wood, Craig Ciampa, Mark Morrison, Chuck Emmons, Joe Pelonzi, Cory Cocchiaro, Laurie Torosian and Mathieu Peloquin perform. • From here: Local playwright Tom Anastasi’s Christmas Stories, with music by Peter Bridges, is in its fifth production. Plots follow a couple struggling to get by, stressed parents of three kids and others before Christmas shopping. It’s appropriate for all ages but isn’t a “kids’ show,” according to Anastasi’s release. He’s directing it for the Wheeler Players. See it Saturday, Dec. 13, at 7:30 p.m.; Sunday, Dec. 14, at 1 p.m.; or Saturday, Dec. 20, at 1 or 7:30 p.m. at the St. Mary Magdalene Parish Center on Lake Street in Tyngsboro. • Caroling: There are still many holiday-themed shows running, including A Christmas Carol at the Leddy Center. Directed by Elaine Gatchell, this will be the last show on their stage at 133 Main St. in Epping before they move to a new venue on Ladd’s Lane. Larry Cranor of Epping plays Ebenezer Scrooge with Kathy St. Germain of Manchester as the Ghost of Christmas Past. This is their fifth performance of the Dickens story in their 24 years.
