Catharsis ain't what it used to be!

The crystal ball is out, and it's "official".  In November 2004, it'll be Bush/Cheney against Kerry/Edwards.

All that's left are the "trite" political formalities, like....

...staged events, with Union Reps. and Vets in tow

...televised debates, with a heavy emphasis on non-issues

...photo-ops, in front of the Flag or Mother Teresa's picture

...unrealistic campaign promises, a.k.a. voter pandering

As an "independent", I don't have a preference (yet) for either ticket.  But, I do have one suggestion for each presidential candidate.

To: John Kerry

Instead of saying,

"I will introduce legislation to provide Health Care Insurance for all Americans",

try this wording:

"I will, by Executive Order, and for the security and well-being of our nation, provide Health Care Insurance for all Americans".

To: George Bush

Instead of saying,

"Even though we haven't found weapons of mass destruction in Iraq, the world is a safer place now that Saddam is out of power",

try this wording:

"I may have misled you about why we went into Iraq, but we did get rid of that son-of-a-bitch Saddam".

You'll both have a "cathartic experience".

Unfortunately, catharsis (and truth-telling) "ain't what it used to be".....
