Fenway Park: A Baseball Pop-Up Book, by Major League Baseball (Universe, 2009, 17 pages)
This pop-up book only has one pop-up, but it’s a doozy.
The first 15 pages (of 17) are a scattering of Fenway facts and photos and a chronology from Fenway’s first game in 1912 to its long run of sold-out games in 2008.
The book measures 10 inches wide by 16 inches long so as to accommodate the pop-up that emerges out of the last page and back cover: Fenway Park in 3-D color cardboard. It doesn’t pack the thrill of, say, a light-up Lego version with mini action figures (could someone get on that, please?), but it’s far better than a flat diagram for giving you a sense of the park’s shape and dimensions. Not something you’re going to read repeatedly or get a lot out of, but maybe a nice gift for the right kind of fan. B — Lisa Parsons
