Caribbean Spice: 341 Lincoln St., Manchester; 647-7423. Closed Sunday. Unusual Queen City restaurant in out-of-the-way part of inner city; reliable source for a taste of flavorful Carribean cooking, including Jamaican jerk pork and chicken, brown stew fish, and Haitian dishes.

Don Quijote Restaurant: 362 Union St., Manchester; 622-2246. A small, family-owned restaurant specializing in authentic food from the Dominican Republic. Think goat and plantains, not quesadillas and margaritas. Also offers authentic Cuban sandwiches. Can be very loud and lively on weekends.
