Clam King: 791 Second St., Second Street Plaza, Manchester; 669-2868. Nothing fancy, just generous seafood platters and other family fare. Worth checking out if you're into large portions and great value. Good sign: vinegar on the table for fried fish dishes.

Newick's Seafood Restaurant: 696 Daniel Webster Highway, Merrimack; 429-0262. Regional chain of seafood restaurants slightly more upscale than average. Reliable and popular.

Starfish Grill: 33 South Commercial St., Manchester; 296-0706. Latest venture from the folks who brought us Shorty's and Cotton. This time it's seafood, with the emphasis on freshness and creative preparation, all in a spectacular renovation millyard space.

Tinker's Seafood: 545 Daniel Webster Highway N., Maple Tree Mall, Manchester; 622-4272. A Manchester favorite; fresh sea critters shipped nationwide. Focus on seafood leads to great value and atmosphere - like a place you'd find on a Hampton Beach side street.

Weathervane: Route 101, Bedford; 472-2749. Very good, very consistent with a wide range of seafood dishes. A favorite with senior citizens; be careful in the parking lot!

Zorba's: 31 Massabesic St., Manchester; 641-3474. Locally owned seafood restaurant in out-of-the-way neighborhood. Only two seafood dinners over $10 on the regular menu! Specials with colorful names such as "Captain Zorba's Giveaway." New addition: Zorba's Too on 168 Amory Street on the West Side; 606-5556.
