The Chateau: 201 Hanover St., Manchester; 627-2677. A time-honored downtown favorite with a popular Sunday Brunch. New "Tenderloin Room Steakhouse and Martini Lounge" open Wednesday-Sunday features high-powered menu of steak and seafood favorites.

Longhorn Steak House: 1580 South Willow St., Manchester; 647-4901. Closest place to Texas in the Queen City. Lively with plenty of cowboy stuff to ponder while you dine.

Nutfield Ale & Steak House: Sheraton Four Points Hotel, 55 E. John Devine Drive, Manchester; 666-3030. Small steakhouse attached to hotel featuring locally brewed New Hampshire beer.

Outback Steak House: 85 South River Road, Bedford; 622-8833. Australian-themed steakhouse chain packs 'em in. Dinner only, though open on Sundays at 1 p.m.

Silo's Steakhouse: 641 D. W. Highway, Merrimack; 429-2210. Gigantic old barn transformed into a cathedral for carnivores; widely known as the area's best steakhouse. Closed for a while but now open again. Open every afternoon at 4 p.m.; closed Monday.

Spatt's: 2264 Candia Rd, at the Massabesic traffic circle, Manchester; 627-9959. Quiet, out-of-the-way place known as a long-time favorite for prime rib. Chicken and seafood on the menu for those not in the mood for meat.

T.R. Brennan's: 1037 Hanover St., Manchester; 623-9255. Recently remodelled and featuring an eclectic variety of steak, seafood, and family fare. New owner and chef Patty Brennan has made T.R. Brennan's daily specials board worth watching.

The Yard Seafood and Steakhouse: Junction of Mammoth Road and South Willow Street, Manchester; 623-3545. Newly renovated dining room, now offering brick-oven pizza. Open seven days. Big-time place for Sunday brunch. Open Monday-Friday for lunch.
