Summer camp season begins

For parents with kids age about four through 16, summer is already upon us.
Yes, there is still snow on the ground, but for many area organizations that offer summer activities, this is the thick of sign-up season for soccer lessons in July, art classes in June and theater training in August.

Bill Veillette is chair of the board of directors for the New Hampshire Preservation Alliance and director of the New Hampshire Historical Society. At the Old House and Barn Expo on March 24 and 25 at the Center of New Hampshire, he?ll be giving a lecture called ?Researching Your Old House: Tips on Physical Investigation and Research? along with Kimberly Alexander, curator at Strawbery Banke. Veillette lives in the Means House in Amherst, built in 1785 and home at one point to Abby Means, a friend and assistant to first lady Jane Pierce.

The weekend hockey folks have been waiting for is upon us as the NCAA Hockey Tournament rolls into town Saturday. It kicks off at 1 p.m. in the Verizon Wireless (plug, plug) Arena when UNH and Miami of Ohio square off in game one and is followed by Boston College and Saint Lawrence in the nightcap.

Techie: Paper that's not paper

If there?s one thing that computers can?t do right, it?s display text.
No, I haven?t finally gone off the deep end. Yes, computers have been displaying text far longer than they?ve been rendering 3D graphics and showing us little clicky icons. It?s not really the computers? fault, either, that the text is so terrible ? it?s the monitors?.
