Concord

By Will Stewart and Robert Greene

More than 1,000 of you cast votes in this year’s Best of Manchester survey, and we counted every ballot. More than 40 person-hours went into the count, along with several gallons of coffee and numerous bags of potato chips. ...

By James E. D. Cook

Got Spring Fever? Here’s a whole alphabet of ways to have fun in Concord. Some are outdoors, some are indoors, but all will stimulate your mind and/or body, and all are right here in our community. The deadline for abatements was March 1, and Marino said that the bulk of all requests came in the last 10 days. He does not expect that all applications will be processed by the city’s deadline of July 1. His department employs four full-time appraisers. ...

by Heidi Masek

Dana White loves archery. He teaches it for Concord’s Recreational Department on Fridays and Saturdays.
“I’ve taught a lot of people. It’s the satisfaction you get out of seeing someone who says ‘I can’t do it’ [later say] ‘Look what I’ve done,’” White says. ...

Nite: Tossed salads, egotistical giants and real blood
by Richie Victorino

Todd Sople is the greatest thing that ever happened to this world, according to Sople himself. That might come off a bit egotistical, but he’s got the hardware to prove it. Sople is the current WAW champion, reaching that plateau quicker than any other wrestler. He’s riding an impressive four-month-long winning streak and his next contender, who he’ll meet in April at Legacy, the biggest of all WAW events, is a flamboyant pip squeak who wears a goat mask. ...

Longshots: Many miss the central point of the story
by Dave Long

You know, when I suggested last week it might be time for the state’s largest newspaper to start writing a little more about the undefeated Central basketball team, I didn’t expect them to take me up on it so quickly. And, of course, back-to-back front-page stories on a potential brewing (no pun intended) scandal wasn’t exactly what I had in mind. ...
