Aceyalone, Magnificent City
Decon Inc., 2006
Aceyalone and RJD2 are one ?George Bush hates black people? rant away from ganking Kanye West?s seat at next years Grammys.
Separate, RJD2 and Aceyalone aren?t with out their charm, but together they are a cohesive element that produces dynamite hip-hop. RJD2 consistently keeps it jazzy with tracks like ?Here And Now? and ?All For U? while sprinkling slices of soul-funk over the tracks ?Fire? and ?Disconnected? making Magnificent City worthy of any dance party. Even the instrumental track ?A Mystery Sunday? is too graceful to be considered an interlude.
Aceyalone is at his lyrical best here, delivering flows so smooth that will boggle your mind why he still stands outside the mainstream. Many can rap but few MCs possess the ability to tell a story through rhyme as deftly as Aceyalone does. ?Junior? elegantly chronicles the events leading up to the murder of the MC?s best friends, while ?Solomon Jones? is a charming tale of an urban gunfight in a western, saloon setting.
This may be the last album the duo produce together but they?re in a position to take the hip-hop mainstream by storm. A
