• The Late Bloomers, Randy Browning and Brett Kinney, met at Berklee College of Music standing in line. Since that fateful day, the two have been exploring jazz, ragtime, bluegrass, blues and a new horizons of folk music at venues such as the Boston Folk Festival, House of Blues, Stone Soup and the Mozaic Room. The Late Bloomers will play Simple Gifts Coffee House at the Unitarian Universalist Church at 58 Lowell St. on Saturday, April 30 at 7:30 p.m. Armed with two acoustic guitars, The Late Bloomers will play songs off their latest CD, Sneakin’ in the Backdoor.

• Stop by Scorz at 522 Amherst St. in Nashua on Friday, April 29 to hear Nashua-based punk metal band Mongrel rock out to their new five-song CD, Open Your Eyes. Mongrel has opened for bands such as The Misfits, Hed and Trash Light Vision in the past month and has recently played live on UMass Lowell’s radio station WUML. If you like Guns N’ Roses, Velvet Revolver, Metallica, Pearl Jam or Soundgarden, you’ll find affinity with Mongrel. The band is on its third singer, third drummer and third bassist.Mongrel is made up of Adam Savage-Adalman on guitar, vocalist Drew Barker, John Schmerling on bass and Pete Adams on drums. Check them out at www.mongrelband.com.

• Check out Parker House and Theory at Southern New Hampshire University in Manchester on Thursday, April 21 at 9 p.m. With the soulful voice of singer Eric-Jon Tasker and the groovin’ funk flavor of  guitarist Carlos Foglia, Parker House puts on a show you can dance to. Parker House, a band started at Emerson College in 1999, recently opened for Everclear at Avalon and has played all over the Northeast—from Maine down to New York City. Although their crowd tends to be mostly college kids, the band has played at the House of Blues, The Middle East, and (now defunct) Bill’s Bar in Boston. Check them out at www.parkerhouseandtheory.com.

 • And every music lover has to hear New Hampshire’s The Everyday Visuals. They play Tupelo Music Hall at 2 Young Rd. in Londonderry on Friday, April 29 at 9 p.m. There’s just something unique and un-everyday about this indie/emo/rock band—is it their soul, playerfulness or the way they just don’t care about their shaggy long hair?
