Dear
Sherry,
I had a terrible fight
with my younger sister a couple of weeks ago and we haven?t spoken
since. She?s very irresponsible and is completely dependent on my
parents for everything. She?s 22, a college graduate and unemployed. She
told my parents that after she graduated, she wanted to just ?chill? for
the summer. They think that?s a good idea. She has her friends over all
the time and they eat my parents? food and drink their booze and beer.
She is out by the pool or in front of the television every day (after
she gets up at noon). My parents refuse to make her do anything she
doesn?t want to do and she does little around the house.
The fight was about all
of this stuff. I think she?s taking advantage of my folks, she thinks I
should mind my own business.

Dear D,
No one can walk over you unless you lay down first. Someone famous said
that ? or something like that. I understand your concern. But really,
it?s not your business. If you want to express your concerns to your
sister, that?s fine. But you can?t orchestrate what your parents do with
this situation. It?s their house, their money, their kid.
Back off ? and try to steer clear of future confrontations.
