Kurt von Kahle, executive chef and owner of Kurt’s Kitchen, recently kicked off a series of Monday afternoon cooking demonstrations at Baron’s Major Brand Appliances’ Laconia/Belmont store. Guests can visit the newly remodeled Bosch/Thermador showroom as von Kahle, one of the area’s leading kitchen consultants, guides them through the process of using Thermador appliances while making a healthy meal.

“He’s going to be demonstrating some of the Thermador appliances to help guests learn to cook in a more healthy fashion, so part of what he focuses on is … convection cooking and induction cooking and he can prepare a variety of foods,” store manager Heidi Laramie said in a phone interview.
For the open house-style demos, von Kahle will make different dishes for guests to sample, from appetizers to main courses to desserts.
“It’s up to him, whatever he feels like that particular day,” she said.
Each week’s demonstration will feature different foods, perhaps with a focus on grilling or baking or meals to be made in the convection oven or steam oven. Regardless of the day’s dishes, the goal is to help both seasoned and beginner cooks learn more about the options for cooking with Thermador appliances.
“[Guests] can interact with the chef and learn not only how to use [appliances] but how to create healthy meals,” she said. “For people who may not know how an induction cooktop or steam oven works, he can help them and show them the benefit of those types of appliances.”
The series, partly inspired to highlight the newly remodeled showroom, which was part of a large redesign completed in March, will continue through August.
“We thought it would be a nice ‘something extra’ when shopping [to] stop in and learn how to use some of the appliances,” Laramie said.
