Milford Drive-In
The Milford Drive-In Movie Theater opened for the season in April, offering yet another way to see movies under the stars.
The theater has two screens, each of which shows a double feature. The drive-in is open weekends, Friday and Saturday evening, with the movies starting at roughly 7:45 p.m., according to the website.
This weekend’s (May 8 and May 9) double features are two blockbusters, Avengers: Age of Ultron (PG-13) and Furious 7 (PG-13), on screen 1 and two buddy comedies, Hot Pursuit (PG-13) and Get Hard (R), on screen two, according to the website. Admission costs $25 for up to 6 occupants per car ($35 for extended vans), $5 for each person over 6.
Check the Milford Drive-In website, milforddrivein.com, or call 673-4090  for information on the coming weekend’s films, directions to the drive-in, a run-down of the concession offerings and drive-in policies. The drive-in is at 531 Elm St. in Milford.

An evening in the park
Enjoy outdoor movies in Nashua

Annual summertime celebration Nashua SummerFun returns with three months packed full of close-to-home activities including Pics in the Park, four family-friendly Friday night movies.

Nashua SummerFun began in the 1970s as a way for families to enjoy free summer entertainment without having to travel.
“With all the gas prices [going up] it’s coming back full circle,” Tom Dwane, recreation manager for Nashua Parks and Recreation said in a phone interview.
With 70 events and concerts held throughout the summer, Nashua SummerFun has something for everyone.
“Opening day is Saturday, June 6, and the last program usually ends in late August,” Dwane said.
Up until last year, Pics in the Park was on a five year hiatus, but with the great reception in 2014 it has been added to the SummerFun lineup for another year. For four nights this summer, a large projection screen will be set up in Greeley Park (100 Concord St. in Nashua) for a movie screening starting at 8:30 p.m., around dusk. Bring a blanket or lawn chair and snacks to settle in with.
Pics in the Park kicks off on June 26 with The Boxtrolls (PG, 2014). See Big Hero 6 (PG, 2014) on July 17 before the Fairy Tale Festival the next day. Check out Paddington (PG, 2015) on Aug. 7, held the night before SummerFun Children’s Day. To close out Pics in the Park, head to the Nashua Airport (93 Perimeter Road, Nashua, nashuaairport.com) for the high-flying action of Planes: Fire and Rescue (PG, 2014) on Aug. 14. Shown on the lawn outside the DWC Aviation Center, this movie night leads into the next day’s second annual Touch-A-Truck event at the airport.

As seen in the May 7, 2015 issue of the Hippo.
