Eat and drink your way to New Year’s
Local restaurants count down with specials and fun

Local restaurants will open their doors on New Year’s Eve to serve you what might just be the best meal you’ve had all year, and a little bit of fun (and champagne) to go with it.

• Alan’s of Boscawen, 133 North Main St., Boscawen, 753-6631, alansofboscawen.com, will offer both its regular menu and a special menu, in addition to a New Year’s buffet from 4 to 10 p.m. The Vintage Band will perform classic rock from 8 p.m. to 1 a.m. The buffet costs $19.99 and there is no cover for the show. Reservations are required.

• Party like it’s 1699 at Alpine Grove, 19 South Depot Road, Route 111A, Hollis, 882-9051, alpinegrove.com, which will host a medieval/Renaissance-themed bash from 6 p.m. to 1 a.m. The night will feature a dinner buffet, champagne toast, cash bar, midnight snacks and a DJ. Prizes will be awarded for the best costumes (costumes are not required to attend). The cost is $40 per person. Reservations are required.

• The Barley House, 132 North Main St., Concord, 228-6363, thebarleyhouse.com, will offer its regular menu with specials. The restaurant will celebrate the New Year with a complimentary toast of Miller High Life (the champagne of beers). A DJ will perform.

• Bedford Village Inn, 2 Olde Bedford Way, Bedford, 472-2001, bedfordvillageinn.com, will offer a four-course dinner for $75 per person from 5 to 9:30 p.m. The menu will include an amuse, appetizers of Tartlet of Duck Confit, Tuna Tataki, Parmesan Gnocchi, Foie Gras Touchon, Seared Sea Scallops or BVI Lobster Bisque and an arugula or mesclun salad. Char Broiled Filet Mignon, Roasted Atlantic Salmon, Long Island Duck Breast, East Coast Cioppino, Blackened Ribeye, Grilled Veal Chop and Parmesan Risotto will serve as entree selections. Reservations are required. Special menus will also be served in the Tavern and Corks Wine Bar. (BVI will also serve a special “recovery menu” on Sunday, Jan. 1, at 11 a.m.).

• Brookstone Grille, 14 Route 111, Derry, 328-9255, brookstone-park.com, will be full of laughs as, for $69.95 per person, guests will be treated to hors d’oeuvres, a dinner buffet and a comedy show hosted by Get Down Tonight Entertainment and North Shore Comedy. The celebration will be held from 7:30 p.m. to 1 a.m. and reservations are required.

• Colby Hill Inn, 3 The Oaks St.  Henniker, 428-3281, colbyhillinn.com, will take reservations from 5 to 9 p.m. (no seatings at 7 p.m.) for a four-course prix-fixe dinner. Among the first course choices will be Flo-wrapped Brie and Lobster Pie and the salad course will feature a Cranberry Fontina Salad. Rack of Lamb and Grilled Swordfish will serve as two of five entree selections and cranberry sorbet will be among the four offered dessert choices. The dinner costs $65 and reservations are required.

• Cotton, 75 Arms St., Manchester, 622-5488, cottonfood.com, will offer a three-course prix fixe meal from 5 to 10 p.m. Diners will be able to choose from four appetizer selections, six entrees and three desserts. The cost will range from $35 to $60 per person and is contingent on entree selection. Reservations are required.

• Dance and dine at The Crowne Plaza, Somerset Parkway, Nashua, 886-1200, cpnashua.com, from 6:30 p.m. to 1 a.m. The evening will begin with a welcome reception with champagne and hors d’oeuvres. Dinner will be served at 7:30 p.m. and will feature Hearty Rustic Antipasto, Garlic Herb Grilled Filet Mignon with Shallot Merlot Sauce paired with Prosciutto-Wrapped Shrimp-N-Scallop Brochette and a dessert buffet. “On Line” will perform. At midnight, guests will be treated to a champagne toast and continental breakfast buffet. The celebration is $219 per person but room packages are also available. Reservations are required.

• Divots on the Green at the Intervale Country Club, 1491 Front St., Manchester, 623-1146, will host its first Rockin’ New Year’s Bash, starting at 6 p.m., with a happy hour. Dinner will be served from 7 to 8 p.m., and a breakfast buffet will be served at midnight. Tickets cost $60 and include both meals, favors and a champagne toast. Headshop will perform. Call to order tickets.

• Eden Restaurant and Lounge, 2323 Brown Ave., Manchester, 249-3336, edenrestaurantandlounge.com, will serve its regular menu with a complimentary glass of champagne for each guest, from 5 to 11 p.m.

• Fratello’s, 155 Dow St. Manchester, 641-6776, fratellos.com, will close 2011 by offering stationary and passed hors d’oeuvres, dinner buffet and sweets table. Guests will also be treated to a champagne toast with hand-dipped chocolate-covered strawberries, cash bar and party favors. Comedians Joey Carroll and Mark Scalia will perform, as will a DJ. Tickets cost $75 and the evening begins at 7 p.m. Reservations and proper dress (no jeans) are required.

• Gauchos Churrascaria, 62 Lowell St., Manchester, 669-9460, gauchosbraziliansteakhouse.com, will serve its regular dinner menu, from 4 to 7:30 p.m. The restaurant will offer dinner and dancing, from 7:30 to midnight, for $40. A complimentary champagne toast will be handed out right before the ball drops. There is a $15 cover for dancing only. Reservations are recommended.

• Granite State Restaurant & Bar at The Centennial, 96 Pleasant St., Concord, 227-9000, graniterestaurant.com, will serve a four-course prix-fixe dinner for $55. Prosciutto Wrapped Seared Jumbo Sea Scallop, Grilled Lamb Lollipops, Apple Cider Braised Chicken “Pot Pie,” Yellowfin Tuna Tartar and Seared Foie Gras will serve as first-course options with Poached Pear and Candied Ginger Salad, Cucumber, Shaved Red Onion and Citrus Salad and Caramelized Onion Soup offered for the second course. Entree selections include Saffron and Vermouth Poached Salmon, Grilled Swordfish, Roasted Breast of Free Range Chicken, Bacon Wrapped Beef Tenderloin, Pomegranate Glazed Braised Beef Short Ribs. Tahitian Vanilla Bean and Banana Bread Pudding, Raspberry Panna Cotta, Warm Spiced Molten Chocolate Cake and Egg Nog Cheesecake will be offered for dessert. Reservations are required.

• Hanover Street Chophouse, 149 Hanover St., Manchester, 644-2467, hanoverstreetchophouse.,com, will offer a special four-course dinner and a glass of champagne from 4:30 to 9 p.m. for $87.50. From 10 p.m. to midnight, the Chophouse will celebrate with a performance by Siroteau, hors d’oeuvres and a champagne toast. The cost is $50. Reservations are required.

• Harold Square, 226 Rockingham Road, Londonderry, 432-7144, harold-square.com, will offer a special a la carte menu featuring such entrees as Lobster-stuffed Chicken, Prime Rib, Seafood Risotto and Pork Tenderloin. Dinner will be served from 4 to 9 p.m.

• Mint Bistro, 1105 Elm St., Manchester, 625-6468, mintbistronh.com, will serve a special menu from 4 to 10 p.m., and a DJ will spin from 9 p.m. until close. Party favors will be handed out to all guests. Reservations are required.

• MT’s Local Kitchen & Wine Bar, 212 Main St. Nashua, 595-3994, mtslocal.com, will offer its regular menu with specials until 10 p.m., and the bar area will be open until 10:30 p.m.

• The Red Blazer, 72 Manchester St., Concord, 224-4101, theredblazer.com, will serve its regular menu, with specials until 10 p.m.

• Seatings are available at 5, 5:30, 6, 8, 8:30 and 9 p.m. for New Year’s dinner at The Saffron Bistro, 80 Main St., Nashua, 883-2100, thesaffronbistro.com. The four-course prix fixe menu will include an amuse of Whipped Goat Cheese in Filo and appetizers of Caramelized Sea Scallops, Honey & Orange Lamb Skewer, Mixed Organic Greens, Tuna Tartar, Lobster Johnny Cake and Vegetable Spanakopita. Pan Roasted Organic Chicken Provencal, Prosciutto Wrapped Chilean Sea Bass, Shrimp Carbonara, Black Angus Center Cut Filet and Black Cherry Glazed Duck will serve as entree selections. For dessert, guests may opt for Chocolate-Raspberry Truffles, Sicilian Lemon Sorbet or Butterscotch & Toffee Cheesecake. The cost is $75, which includes a glass of Christalino Cava. Reservations are required.

• Sunny’s Table, 11 Depot St., Concord, 225-8181, sunnystable.com, will serve a four-course prix fixe dinner, with prices ranging from $35 to $50. Reservations are recommended.

• Surf Restaurant, 207 Main St., Nashua, 595-9293, surfseafood.com, will offer its regular menu with specials from 4 to 10 p.m.

• Tandy’s Top Shelf, 1 Eagle Square, Concord, 856-7614, top-shelf.biz , is offering three options for guests to ring in the new year. The “Exclusive” package — $90 per person, $150 per couple — includes a five-course prix-fixe dinner, access to the restaurant’s VIP room, a champagne toast, three complimentary cocktails, a finger food buffet, 20 raffle tickets and a complimentary brunch, from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Sunday, Jan. 1. The VIP package — $50 per person, $75 per couple — includes a champagne toast, 10 raffle tickets, two complimentary cocktails, a finger food buffet and access to the VIP lounge. Take 4 and DJ Ricta will perform. General admission tickets are also available and cost $15. Orders tickets at top-shelf.biz.

• Tuscan Kitchen, 67 Main St., Salem, 952-4875, tuscan-kitchen.com, will celebrate Felice Anno Nuvo, from 3 to 10 p.m., with its regular menu and specials. An early New Year’s toast will be held at 6 p.m., which is midnight in Italy. Reservations are accepted for parties of seven or more. Call-ahead seating is available.

• Unums, 49 E. Pearl St., Nashua, 821-6500, unums.com, will offer a four-course menu, from 5:30 to 8 p.m. Appetizer options will include Smoked Salmon & Caviar, Steak Tartare and Oysters Anisette and salad selections will be Arugula and Mushroom and Mixed Greens with Goat Cheese Tostada. Stuffed Lobster and Herb-Crusted Prime Rib will serve as entree options. Brownie Delight and Cheesecake will be offered for dessert. The dinner costs $160 per couple. Reservations are required.

• XO on Elm, 827 Elm St., Manchester, 560-7998, xoonelm.com, will serve its regular menu and chef specials. Reservations are required.

• For dinner, comedy and dancing, make a reservation at The Yard, 1211 South Mammoth Road, Manchester, 623-3545, theyardrestaurant.com. For $75 per person, guests will be treated to a dinner buffet from 7 to 8:30 p.m., performances by North Shore Comedy and Groove Alliance and a midnight toast. Doors open at 6:30 p.m. Call for tickets.

• Z Food and Drink, 860 Elm St., Manchester, 629-9383, zfoodanddrink.com, will close out 2011 with its annual house party from 10 p.m. to midnight, complete with games, trivia, prizes, singalongs and its famous lego-building competition. The regular menu will be available, with specials.

• Zampa, 8 Exeter Road, Epping, 679-8772, zampa.com, will celebrate the new year with a five-course dinner, at 6 p.m. The dinner costs $60 and reservations are required.
