Music and more than 80 parties for New Year’s Eve

New Year’s Eve happens on a Friday night this year, creating a perfect storm of nightlife opportunities. Here’s a rundown of the very crowded calendar:

• Pulse performs an 18+ event beginning at 9 p.m. at 11th Frame Bar (887 B Central Ave. in Dover, 742-9632)

• Rocker Joe MacDonald plays a no-cover party that includes a traditional buffet from 4 to 10 p.m. at Alan’s (133 N. Main St. in Boscawen, 753-6631)

• A country-and-western themed party features both dinner and midnight buffets, a champagne toast and DJ Chris Brunelle spinnning from 6 p.m. to 1 a.m., at Alpine Grove (19 S. Depot Road in Hollis, 882-9051); tickets cost $40.

• Resident DJ Jonny C keeps it modern in the front room, while classic music plays in the Retro Room at Amber Room (53 High St. in Nashua, 521-5672), with free party favors, complimentary midnight glass of bubbly and midnight balloon drop. Tickest cost $15 per person, $25 per couple; VIP tables are $350.

• A jazz dinner from 6 to 9 p.m. will feature music from Dave Tonkin at Barley House (132 N. Main St. in Concord, 228-6363).

• Beijing & Tokyo (61 S. Main St. in Concord, 228-0888) has a DJ-hosted party with a champagne toast at midnight.

• Vegas Temper headlines a Hollywood-themed party with a $10 cover charge at Black Brimmer (1087 Elm St. in Manchester, 669-5523).

• The Blue Mermaid All Stars perform at Blue Mermaid Island Grill (the hill at Hanover and High streets in Portsmouth, 427-2583).

• A free buffet, party favors, DJ music and a champagne toast at midnight are part of the no-cover party at Breezeway Pub (14 Pearl St. in Manchester, 621-9111).

• A $79.95-per-person dinner buffet & champagne toast at midnight happens at Brookstone Grille (14 Route 11 East in Derry, 328-9250) starting at 7 p.m., with music from six-piece cover band The Knights.

• Lazy Boy Rockers play blues rock and the appetizers should be plentiful for the no-cover party at Chen Yang Li (520 South St. in Bow, 228-8508).

• Drop Zone rocks out at Chop Shop Bar & Grill (920 Lafayette Road in Seabrook, 760-7704). The $10 cover charge includes buffet, toast and party favors.

• Local favorites Darrah perform at City Sports Grille & Spare Time (216 Maple St. in Manchester, 625-9656).

• Steve Tolley plays folk rock songs at Coach Stop Restaurant & Tavern (176 Mammoth Road in Londonderry, 437-2022).

• Mike Davey plays beginning at 7 p.m. at Country Tavern (452 Amherst St. in Nashua, 889-5871).

• Mugsy rocks out with champagne and party favors at Derryfield Country Club (625 Mammoth Road in Manchester, 623-2880); admission is $10.

• Bob Arens and his band play old and new standards at a no-cover show from 9 p.m. to 12:30 a.m. at Dolphin Striker (15 Bow St. in Portsmouth, 431-5222).

• Boring Kind of Guy and The Wreckoning entertain at Dover Brick House (2 Orchard St. in Dover, 749-3838).

• Element Lounge (1055 Elm St. in Manchester, 627-2922) is open from 5 p.m. to 2 a.m. with champagne and party favors at its no-cover event.

• Paul Warnick and Paul Luff perform at 9 p.m. and there’s dinner (with seatings at 5:30, 7:30 and 9:30 p.m.) at Ellacoya Barn & Grille (2667 Lakeshore Road in Gilford, 293-8700).

• There’s DJ music and a champagne toast at midnight at Fat Belly’s (2 Bow St. in Portsmouth, 610-4227).

• Mad Express headlines the party at Fody’s Tavern (9 Clinton St. in Nashua, 577-9015).

• DJ Dave Nadeau entertains and there will be stationary & butler-passed hors d’oeuvres, a dinner buffet and a champagne toast at midnight with party favors and chocolate-dipped strawberries at Fratello’s (155 Dow St. in Manchester, 624-2022). Reservations are required for the $69.95-per-person event.

• Seconds to September rocks out starting at 9 p.m. at Fury’s Publick House (1 Washington St. in Dover, 617-3633).

• Fuse (23 Amherst St. in Manchester, 645-7600) is the new name for former Club Liquid, which rings in 2011 with a champagne toast, balloon drop, and party favors ($10 for admission).

• DJ Bernie spins from 9 p.m. at a no-cover event featuring raffles and half-price appetizers at Gate City Pub (56 Canal St. in Nashua, 598-8256).

• Dine on Brazilian cuisine for a prix fixe $40 at 8 p.m. with dancing and music from DJ Moises later ($20 for party only) at Gaucho’s Churrascaria Brazilian Steak House (62 Lowell St. in Manchester, 669-9460); business casual attire required.

• There’s comedy with Paul Nardizzi, Stacy Kendron and Chris Norton at Gravity Tavern (35 Mont Vernon Road in New Boston, 487-2011). Tickets cost $30 and include show, snacks and champagne toast.

• Crazy Chester performs at Green Martini (6 Pleasant St. in Concord, 223-6672).

• Slackas perform with complimentary noisemakers and hats at Haluwa Lounge (Nashua Mall in Nashua, 883-6662).

• Robbie Printz, Ira Proctor and Pat Napoli provide the laughs at Headliners (21 Front St. in Manchester, 988-3673). Dinner and a show cost $50 per person; show-only tickets cost $30.

• Comics Rob Steen and Mike Donovan entertain at Holiday Inn’s Bounty (9 Northeastern Blvd. in Nashua, 888-1551). Dinner is at 7:30 p.m., the show is at 9 p.m., dancing starts at 10 p.m., and champagne toast is at midnight. Tickets cost $75.

• The Scott Barnett Band plays from 9 p.m. to close at Holy Grail Food & Spirits (64 Main St. in Epping, 679-9559).

• Crunchy Monkey plays classic rock, and patrons can win prizes from a balloon drop at Jillian’s Billiard Club (50 Philippe Cote Drive in Manchester, 626-7636). Cover is $10.

• Deadbeats play alternative rock music with party favors, champagne toast and no cover charge at Johnny Bad’s (542 Elm St. in Manchester, 222-9191).

• Guitar whiz kid Ryan Brooks Kelly performs a hometown show with his band Smokehouse Lightning at Johnny’s Pizzeria (35 Lowell Road in Hudson, 880-7087).

• Jimmy Dunn headlines an all-star show at 8 p.m. featuring Steve Bjork and Maria Ciampa at King’s Court (222 Central St. (Route 111) in Hudson, 821-5100). • Recycled Percussion perform an 8 p.m. show at Palace Theatre (80 Hanover St. in Manchester, 668-5588). Tickets cost $29.50.

• Small Town Stranded rocks out at the Pasta Loft (241 Union Square in Milford, 672-2270).

• Threeplay play folk at Pasta Loft Brickhouse Tavern (220 East Main St. in East Hampstead, 378-0092).

• Family fun happens at Pat’s Peak Ski Area (24 Flanders Road in Henniker, 428-3245) with an “In Motion” party including skiing, snowboarding and tubing, a comedy show, dancing to the McMurphys, a champagne toast and fireworks at midnight. Tickets cost $50 to $90.

• Rebels Glen Irish Ban and a three-course meal are part of the fun starting at 6:30 p.m. at Peddler’s Daughter (48 Main St. in Nashua, 880-8686).

• There are beer specials from 9 to 11 p.m. and a champagne toast at midnight for the no-cover party at Penuche’s Ale House Nashua (4 Canal St in Nashua, 595-9831).

• Lichen plays Grateful Dead covers and other favorites beginning at 9 p.m. at a no-cover party with a midnight toast at Penuche’s Grill (96 Hanover St. in Manchester, 626-9830).

• Rampage Trio perform at Stella Blu (70 E. Pearl St. in Nashua, 578-5557).

• Acoustic Cocktail performs beginning at 8:30 p.m. at a no-cover event with free champagne and party favors at midnight at Steve-N-James Tavern (187 Rockingham Road in Derry, 434-0600).

• David Rousseau & Mr. Nick & the Dirty Tricks play the music, with an appetizer and dessert buffet available, and a champagne toast, at Strange Brew Tavern (88 Market St. in Manchester, 666-4292).

• A First Night bash with Day Janiero and DJ Aleka is planned at Tandy’s Top Shelf (1 Eagle Square in Concord, 856-7614). Ticket prices vary based on service (basic to VIP). Gentlemen are asked to wear a button-down shirt with a tie, dress pants, dinner jacket and dress shoes; ladies should wear a dress or pants ensemble or cocktail dress.

• English Beat perform a special New Year’s show at Tupelo Music Hall (2 Young Road in Londonderry, 437-5100). Tickets cost $60.

• Dine at  Unwine’d (865 Second St. in Manchester, 625-9463) then head next door to the recently opened Two Doors Down club, which features a light menu, cocktails and of course wine beginning at 8 p.m. and a toast at midnight.

• Common Knowledge, featuring the vocals of employee Amber Lee, entertains at a no-cover event with a complimentary champagne toast at midnight and rides home for locals at Village Trestle (25 Main St. in Goffstown, 497-8230).

• Warhorse performs upstairs at the WetBar at The Page Restaurant and Bar (172 Hanover St. in Portsmouth, 436-0004).

• Souled Out Soul Show Band, led by the bar’s owner, performs rock and soul at Whippersnappers (44 Nashua Road #13 in Londonderry, 434-2660).

• Head Shop performs at Wild Rover (21 Kosciuszko St. in Manchester, 669-7722).

• Groove Alliance with North Shore Comedy returns to The Yard / Midnight Rodeo (1211 S. Mammoth Road in Manchester, 623-3545). Tickets cost $75, with doors opening at 6:30 and a buffet dinner from 7 to 8:30 p.m.

• After-dinner service starts at 4 p.m. and the annual house party begins at 11 p.m. at Z Food and Drink (860 Elm St. in Manchester, 629-9383) with Bob the Piano Guy, games, prizes and giveaways. Reservations recommended.
