Music and more than 80 parties for New Year’s Eve

New Year’s Eve happens on a Friday night this year, creating a perfect storm of nightlife opportunities. Here’s a rundown of the very crowded calendar:

• Pulse performs an 18+ event beginning at 9 p.m. at 11th Frame Bar (887 B Central Ave. in Dover, 742-9632)

• Rocker Joe MacDonald plays a no-cover party that includes a traditional buffet from 4 to 10 p.m. at Alan’s (133 N. Main St. in Boscawen, 753-6631)

• A country-and-western themed party features both dinner and midnight buffets, a champagne toast and DJ Chris Brunelle spinnning from 6 p.m. to 1 a.m., at Alpine Grove (19 S. Depot Road in Hollis, 882-9051); tickets cost $40.

• Resident DJ Jonny C keeps it modern in the front room, while classic music plays in the Retro Room at Amber Room (53 High St. in Nashua, 521-5672), with free party favors, complimentary midnight glass of bubbly and midnight balloon drop. Tickest cost $15 per person, $25 per couple; VIP tables are $350.

• A jazz dinner from 6 to 9 p.m. will feature music from Dave Tonkin at Barley House (132 N. Main St. in Concord, 228-6363).

• Beijing & Tokyo (61 S. Main St. in Concord, 228-0888) has a DJ-hosted party with a champagne toast at midnight.

• Vegas Temper headlines a Hollywood-themed party with a $10 cover charge at Black Brimmer (1087 Elm St. in Manchester, 669-5523).

• The Blue Mermaid All Stars perform at Blue Mermaid Island Grill (the hill at Hanover and High streets in Portsmouth, 427-2583).

• A free buffet, party favors, DJ music and a champagne toast at midnight are part of the no-cover party at Breezeway Pub (14 Pearl St. in Manchester, 621-9111).

• A $79.95-per-person dinner buffet & champagne toast at midnight happens at Brookstone Grille (14 Route 11 East in Derry, 328-9250) starting at 7 p.m., with music from six-piece cover band The Knights.

• Lazy Boy Rockers play blues rock and the appetizers should be plentiful for the no-cover party at Chen Yang Li (520 South St. in Bow, 228-8508).

• Mugsy rocks out with champagne and party favors at Derryfield Country Club (625 Mammoth Road in Manchester, 623-2880); admission is $10.

• Bob Arens and his band play old and new standards at a no-cover show from 9 p.m. to 12:30 a.m. at Dolphin Striker (15 Bow St. in Portsmouth, 431-5222).

• Boring Kind of Guy and The Wreckoning entertain at Dover Brick House (2 Orchard St. in Dover, 749-3838).

• Element Lounge (1055 Elm St. in Manchester, 627-2922) is open from 5 p.m. to 2 a.m. with champagne and party favors at its no-cover event.

• Paul Warnick and Paul Luff perform at 9 p.m. and there’s dinner (with seatings at 5:30, 7:30 and 9:30 p.m.) at Ellacoya Barn & Grille (2667 Lakeshore Road in Gilford, 293-8700).
