Where to go for New Year’s Eve

Kick off 2011 right by letting someone else make the celebratory meal. Here are some of the places offering special New Year’s Eve meals. Reservations are filling up fast — so call as early a possible (for many meals listed here, reservations are required).

• Alan’s of Boscawen, 133 North Main St., Boscawen, 753-6631, www.alansofboscawen.com, will offer both its regular menu and a special menu, in addition to a New Year’s buffet from 4 to 10 p.m. Joe  MacDonald will perform from 8 p.m. to 1 a.m. The buffet costs $19.99 per person. .

• The Alphorn Bistro at the Inn at Danbury, 67 NH Route 104, Danbury, 768-3318, www.innatdanbury.com, will offer a two-salad, two-entree deal for $28 per person from 4 to 10 p.m.

• A country-western-themed bash will be held at Alpine Grove, 19 South Depot Road, Route 111A, Hollis, 882-9051, from 6 p.m. to 1 a.m. The night will feature a dinner buffet, champagne toast, midnight buffet and  music by DJ Chris Brunelle. The cost is $40 per person.

• The Barley House, 132 N. Main St., Concord, will offer its full dinner menu as well as a prix fixe menu from 5 to 10 p.m. A jazz performance by Dan Tonkin will be held in the lounge from 6 to 9 p.m.

• Bedford Village Inn, 2 Olde Bedford Way, Bedford, 472-2001, www.bedfordvillageinn.com, will offer a four-course dinner for $75 per person from 5 to 9:30 p.m. The menu will include an amuse bouche, appetizers of crispy sweetbreads, pan-roasted sea scallops, oxtail ravioli, winter consommé, bisque au crevettes and Peekytoe crab salad. Veal medallions, stuffed sole filet, Arctic char pavé, Brandt beef duo, pistachio-crusted pheasant breast, suckling pig and truffled potato agnolotti will serve as entree selections. For dessert, guests may choose banana foster chocolate fudge cake, caramel apple napoleon, lemon pudding cake, Grand Marnier cheesecake or peach champagne sorbet.

• The New Year’s Eve Gala at Brookstone Event Center, 14 Route 111, Derry, 328-9255, www.brookstone-park.com, will feature dinner and dancing. For $79.95 per person, guests will be treated to a buffet of appetizers, salads, main courses including pan-seared chicken, carved garlic and herb rib roast and pan-roasted salmon, and a selection of mini-desserts. The Knights will perform classics and top 40 hits, and a champagne toast will be held at midnight. The gala starts at 7 p.m.

• Buckley’s Great Steaks, 438 DW Highway, Merrimack, 424-0995, www.buckleysgreatsteaks.com, will serve its regular dinner menu and specials from 4 to 10 p.m. Reservations are recommended.

• Cotton, 75 Arms St., Manchester, 622-5488, www.cottonfood.com, will offer a three-course prix fixe from 5 to 10 p.m. Diners will be able to choose from four appetizer selections, six entrees and three desserts. The cost will range from $35 to $60 per person and is contingent on entree selection.

• Dance and dine at The Crowne Plaza, Somerset Parkway, Nashua, 886-1200, www.cpnashua.com, from 6:30 p.m. to 1 a.m. The evening will begin with a welcome reception complete with champagne and hors d’oeuvres. Dinner will be served at 7:30 p.m. and will feature Mediterranean tapas appetizers, filet mignon paired with baked Scottish salmon, and a dessert buffet. On Line will perform. At midnight, guests will be treated to a champagne toast and continental breakfast buffet. The celebration costs $199 per person but room packages are also available.

• Firefly American Bistro & Bar, 22 Concord St., Manchester, 935-9740, www.fireflynh.com, will be serving its full dinner menu with a few New Year’s specials from 4 p.m. to 11 p.m.

• Fratello’s, 155 Dow St. Manchester, 641-6776, www.fratellos.com, will close 2010 by offering stationary and passed hors d’oeuvres, a dinner buffet and a sweets table. Guests will also be treated to a champagne toast with hand-dipped chocolate-covered strawberries and party favors. DJ Dave Nadeau will provide entertainment. Tickets cost $69.95 per person and the evening begins at 7 p.m.

• Gauchos Churrascaria Brazilian Steak House, 62 Lowell St., Manchester, 669-9460, will offer a prix fixe dinner from 2 to 8 p.m., with dancing and a champagne toast to follow. Dinner and dancing costs $40 per person. Reservations are required.

• Granite Restaurant and Bar at the Centennial Hotel, 96 Pleasant St., Concord, 227-9000, www.graniterestaurant.com, will serve a four-course prix fixe meal for $55 per person. For the first and second courses, guests will have their choice of an appetizer and salad. Entree options are seared sea scallops, pink peppercorn and rosemary grilled swordfish, free range chicken breast, bacon-wrapped beef tenderloin and rosemary and almond crusted pork tenderloin. Desserts include spiced poached Anjou pear, rasberry and Chambord Bavarian mousse, spiced moulten chocolate cake and egg nog cheesecake.

• Hanover Street Chophouse, 149 Hanover St., Manchester, 644-2467, www.hanoverstreetchophouse.com, will offer a prix fixe dinner. Siroteau will perform.

• Harold Square, 226 Rockingham Road, Londonderry, 432-7144, www.harold-square.com, will serve a special New Year’s menu featuring prime rib roast, filet medallions with bernaise sauce, Veal Oscar, Seafood Newburg and mushroom vegetable strudel until 9 p.m.

• The Holy Grail Pub, 64 Main St., Epping, 679-9559, www.theholygrailpub.com, is accepting reservations of all sizes for New Year’s Eve. In addition to its regular menu, the pub will serve specials including walnut and black peppercorn encrusted pork loin and Veal Oscar with Lobster meat and asparagus topped with hollandaise sauce. Reservations are recommended.

• Kiki’s Restaurant, 35 Mont Vernon Road, New Boston, 487-2011, www.kikisnewboston.com, will have New Year’s Eve seatings at 6 and 8:30 p.m. The five-course prix fixe menu will feature lobster, prime rib, filet mignon, pork osso bucco, truffled parpardelle pasta and quinoa stuffed cabbage. The dinner costs $36- $56. Dinner reservations are required. Comedian Paul Nardizzi will perform at 9 p.m. Tickets to the comedy show include a champage toast cost $25 with a dinner reservation and $30 without.

• Celebrate and spend the night at Lamie’s Inn & The Old Salt, 490 Lafayette Road, Hampton, 926-0330, www.oldsaltnh.com. For $259 per couple, guests can enjoy a room for two at the inn, where fresh baked cookies, champagne, a fruit and cheese platter and party favors will await. The cost also includes dinner for two, soup or salad, an appetizer, entree and dessert, at The Old Salt restaurant. Guests will be treated to live entertainment and a midnight champagne toast as well as a champagne-fireside brunch in the morning.

• Michael Timothy’s, 212 Main St. Nashua, 595-3994, will offer a prix fixe menu for $125 per person, from 5 to 10 p.m.

• For $49.95 per person, guests can ring in the new year at a ballroom bash at Nonni’s Italian Eatery at the Holiday Inn, 172 North Main St., Concord, 573-4037, www.nonnisitalianeatery.com. The evening will feature appetizers including stuffed mushrooms and stromboli, an all-you-can-eat Italian-style prime rib buffet with all the fixings, chicken and seafood dishes, a dessert buffet and entertainment by DJ Nazzy of 105.5 JYY.

• Pasquale’s Ristorante Italiano, 143 Raymond Road, Candia, 483-5005, www.pasqualeincandia.com, will offer its regular dinner menu and specials until 8 p.m. Reservations are required.

• The Red Blazer, 72 Manchester St., Concord, 224-4101, www.theredblazer.com, will serve its regular menu, with specials until 8 p.m. There will be a $5 cover charge for the Route 3 performance beginning at 9 p.m. A complimentary champagne toast will be held at midnight.

• Republic, 1069 Elm St., Manchester, 666-3723, www.republiccafe.com, will offer “extra special specials” until 10 p.m., in addition to its regular dinner menu.

• Richard’s Bistro, 36 Lowell St., Manchester, 644-1180, www.richardsbistro.com, will serve a porterhouse for two, in addition to the regular dinner menu.

• Seatings are available at 5 p.m., 6 p.m., 8 p.m. and 9 p.m. for New Year’s dinner at The Saffron Bistro, 80 Main St., Nashua, 883-2100, www.thesaffronbistro.com. The four-course prix fixe menu will include an amuse bouche of house-made duck pastrami crostini with boursin cheese and appetizers of veal osso bucco ravioli, pan-roasted scallops, shrimp cocktail and smoked chicken wontons. Pan-roasted organic chicken, Chilean sea bass, surf and turf and butternut squash ravioli will serve as entree selections. For dessert, guests may opt for dark chocolate pot du crème or a DiSaronno almond torte. The cost is $75 per person.

• San Francisco Kitchen, 133 Main St., Nashua, 886-8833, www.sfkitchen.com, will offer its regular dinner menu and specials, including a Kobe filet surf and turf with a lobster tail, until 11 p.m. Reservations are recommended.

• Sunny’s Table, 11 Depot St., Concord, 225-8181, www.sunnystable.com, will serve a three-course prix fixe dinner, with prices ranging from $35 to $45. Appetizers will likely include Korean potstickers, Maine mussels in Sunny’s curry, Beef Tataki in ponzu sauce and a chilled seafood trio. Entrees will include Maine lobster and shrimp Tikka Masala, miso-braised Miles Smith Farm flat iron beef and Vietnamese fried tofu in tomato sauce.

• Tandy’s Top Shelf, 1 Eagle Square, Concord, 856-7614, www.top-shelf.biz, is offering three options for guests to ring in the new year. The “Exclusive” package — $150 per person, $250 per couple — includes a five-course prix fixe dinner of soup, salad, appetizers of scallop and asparagus baked brie, roasted red pepper and artichoke dip and entrees of filet mignon, Cornish game hen, lobster tails and baked stuffed eggplant. Tiramisu will be served for dessert. The package also includes access to the restaurant’s VIP room, a champagne toast, three complimentary cocktails, 10 raffle tickets, a rose for each woman and a boutonniere for each man. The VIP package — $60 per person, $100 per couple — includes a champagne toast, five raffle tickets, two complimentary cocktails and a finger food buffet. Day Janeiro and DJ Aleka will perform.

• Unums, 47 E. Pearl St., Nashua, 821-6500, www.unums.com, will offer seatings for a four-course prix fixe meal at 5 and 8 p.m. The cost is $75 per person. Reservations are recommended.

• Whippersnappers, 44 Nashua Road, Londonderry, 434-2660, www.whippersnappersnh.com, will offer a special dinner menu and a midnight snack buffet and toast. Souled Out Show Band will perform. Tickets cost $30 and include a  ride home in a 15-passenger van, within a 15-mile radius.

• XO on Elm, 827 Elm St., Manchester, 560-7998, www.xoonelm.com, will serve its regular menu and chef specials.

• For dinner, comedy and dancing make a reservation at The Yard, 1211 South Mammoth Road, Manchester, 623-3545, www.theyardrestaurant.com. For $75 per person, guests will be treated to a dinner buffet from 6 to 7:30 p.m., performances by North Shore Comedy and Groove Alliance and a midnight toast.

• Z Food and Drink, 860 Elm St., Manchester, 629-9383, www.zfoodanddrink.com, will close out 2010 with its annual house party from 10 p.m. to midnight, complete with games, trivia, prizes, sing-alongs and its famous Lego-building competition. The regular menu will be available, with specials.
