Hesser's
hauntings
By Jennifer Dole

If you
happen to find yourself in the hallways of Hesser College, don't be
surprised if you hear bouncing balls, footsteps or children playing.
Of course, there are no longer children there, but there once were.
Students at Hesser talk of mysterious happenings and hauntings.
The story goes that while the building was a functioning mill during
the early 1900s there was a flood in the sub-basement. The children
working in the basement at the time died, and it is those children
that are presumed to haunt the building. Not only can bouncing balls
be heard in the rear stairwell, but the sounds of children playing
have been heard on the fourth floor.
Other students say that they have heard footsteps in the stairwell,
but no doors were heard opening or closing. Female students won't
take showers alone after midnight for fear of the howling noises in
the bathroom. Adding to the mystery are silent Hesser officials who
declined to speak about the ghosts.
One simply said, "It's an old building, there are likely to be
sounds," but you best decide for yourself.
